Day 3 route |
Day 3 elevation profile |
7/23/2016
This was a tough day for both of us.
It started out fairly moderate for the first 1.5 miles, but then was about a 2,500 ft elevation gain across the next 2.5 miles. Not a lot of switchbacks, just a vertical climb.
We took a long lunch break at about mile 3.5 and Revan snoozed for a bit before we tackled the vertical climb for the remaining 700 ft of elevation gain.
The views from the top of Trail Rider Pass were incredible. The 'maroon' in Maroon Bells were really obvious from this pass.
We were worried that Snowmass Lake would be overfull, but we found a good camping spot with lake views and although the lake was pretty busy, everyone was respectful and we really enjoyed the site.
